A UX Researcher/Designer at Garmin works with cross-functional teams of designers, developers, and business stakeholders to both define and execute all phases of usability and user research. Usability testing and other research tactics are employed to objectify and guide the UX design process. You will be recognized as an expert and internal consultant within the organization in a field of specialization. Check out what the Auto OEM team presented at CES 2018: In this role, you will also be responsible for the following:Defines general approaches as well as specific solutions to research problemsApplies extensive research expertise to all assigned projectsMust demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including engineering, sales and marketingCoordinates large scale research projects with multiple stakeholdersMust demonstrate the ability to analyze research data and find opportunities for improvements and new ideasMust demonstrate the ability to give direction to other researchers/designers and delegate tasksCapable of mentoring one or more User Experience researcher I, II, or IIIResponsible for research planning and directionEffectively utilizes different methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) Work with leads to determine feature vision and help visualize/communicate itDefines and executes all phases of research: determining the appropriate methodologies, developing research plans, recruiting testers, moderating, analyzing, and presenting the results to a variety of key stakeholders, including senior leadership.Collaborates with cross-functional teams of designers, developers, and business stakeholders.Analyzes primary and secondary data for usage patterns and to identify UX improvement opportunities.Researches and recommends UX best practices and new research methodologies that can be employed to both objectify and inform the UX design process.Develop expertise in automotive industry and government design, safety and testing guidelines Familiar with Human Factors methods and best practicesQualified candidates possess a Bachelor's degree or above in Human Factors or Human Computer Interaction from an accredited four year college or university or a related field AND must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as a User Experience researcher at Garmin OR relevant bachelors? degree plus 8 years equivalent working experience from another company in a similar role Other requirements include:Demonstrated experience in a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies such as usability testing, task analysis, heuristic reviews, card sorts, persona development, contextual inquiries and surveys.Must have solid experience analyzing and synthesizing user data to identify usability insights and translate those insights into actionable recommendationsDemonstrated observation skills and moderating experienceMust possess knowledge of usability, accessibility, SEO and other standard best practicesDemonstrated experience simultaneously supporting multiple projects of varying complexitySuperior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and qualityMust be able to demonstrate creativityDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and demonstrate the ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environmentMust be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervisionCandidates with an online portfolio demonstrating extensive experience in both usability research and interaction design, who posess proficiency with common rapid prototyping tools, and experience working in the automotive OEM space are preferred.
