New Horizon Counseling Center, a thriving behavioral health agency, is seeking Licensed Creative Arts Therapists for its outpatient clinic in Valley Stream, NY. Full-time, part-time and fee-for-service art therapist positions are available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluates patients in order to determine functional capacities, suitability for group therapies and activities, and develop course of treatment

Obtains information from medical records, medical staff, and the patients themselves to assess patients' capabilities, needs, and interests

Monitors and records patients' progress to ensure that individual treatment goals and objectives are met or revised as appropriate

Keeps track of inventory and maintains work space in an organized, hygienic manner consistent with regulatory requirements

Adheres to certification and/or licensing requirements as determined by respective regulatory agencies

Implements group and individual psychotherapy and creative arts therapy sessions according to therapeutic design and in consultation with clinical team

Develops, updates and implements Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan with clinical team

Prepares patient assessment and progress reports; documents clinical services in medical record; communicates relevant information to clinical team; recommends changes or modifications in therapeutic programming as necessary



Master's degree in art therapy. Candidate must hold certification in their respected modality.


Minimum one (1) year experience as an art therapist/Creative Arts Therapist working with psychiatric clientele. Acute inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.


A valid License in Creative Arts Therapy or Limited Permit in Creative Arts Therapy issued by the New York State Education Department.
